XRA CEO, LIZ HYMAN, HIGHLIGHTED THE IMPORTANCE OF XR FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AT GEORGE MASON'S IM-TECH CONFERENCE

Arlington, VA – Last month, Elizabeth Hyman, CEO of the XR Association, participated in a panel discussion at George Mason University’s Learning Multiverse: Immersive Technologies in Training and Education conference. The discussion, titled “Understanding the Practical Applications of IM-TECH: A Consumer’s Perspective,” featured expert speakers alongside Hyman, including Sophia Moshasha (VR/AR Association DC Chapter), John P. Grant (Academy for Defense Intelligence), Dolly Oberoi (C2 Technologies), and Robert Enos (Federal Aviation Administration).  

In her remarks, Hyman discussed the importance of immersive technology for workforce development and upskilling the next generation of work. She also highlighted use cases from XRA member companies, including a study conducted by Talespin and PWC, “Understanding the Effectiveness of VR Soft Skill Training in the Enterprise,” that highlights the effectiveness of VR-learning; Taqtile’s real time, augmented reality remote assistance and collaboration with Manifest; and Accenture’s Nth floor for training and onboarding employees in the metaverse. 

Additionally, Hyman mentioned the Government Accountability Office’s request to investigate the adoption of immersive technologies across federal civilian agencies, which was submitted in November 2022 by Senators Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), Roger Wicker (R-MS), and Todd Young (R-IN).
