Washington, D.C. – The XR Association (XRA) and the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) will host the fifth annual AR/VR Policy Conference on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Washington, D.C. For the past four years, this conference has served as the leading forum for XR industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to explore the opportunities and challenges of augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) technologies. This year’s conference features a robust lineup of panels and discussions examining global competitiveness, defense innovation, wearable AI, and the emerging virtual economy.
The fifth annual AR/VR Policy Conference will feature a series of panels exploring the intersection of immersive technology and public policy. Discussions will examine how global industrial strategies, trade policies, and regulatory frameworks are shaping XR innovation and competitiveness; the integration of immersive tools in U.S. military training and operations; and the convergence of XR, cryptocurrency, and blockchain in building a secure virtual economy. Additional panels will address the rise of wearable AI and its implications for privacy and data governance, as well as the growing use of generative AI-powered virtual characters across industries such as education, mental health, and training. Together, these sessions highlight the urgent need for thoughtful policy to guide the responsible growth of immersive technologies.
AR/VR technology is transforming how we communicate, access information, and engage with the world, raising important policy questions that will have profound implications for the economy and society. The conference will provide a platform for industry leaders to demonstrate their commitment to the growth and development of the XR industry while engaging directly with key decision-makers.
