Leaders from the XR Association will share their insights about the responsible development of XR in speeches and panel discussions at the upcoming AWE conference on June 1-3 in Santa Clara, CA.

XRA CEO to Keynote on Main Stage

Liz Hyman, CEO of the XR Association, will deliver a keynote address, “The Tech Heard ‘Round the World — Embracing the Future of XR” at the opening session of AWE on Wednesday, June 1st. She will discuss how industry members can support the responsible development of immersive technologies and educate policymakers about XR as well. 

Designing & Developing for DEI + Accessibility

Stephanie Montgomery, Vice President of Research & Best Practices at XRA, joins Nirav Desai, CEO, Moonbeam, Pia Zaragoza, UX Mentor at Springboard and White House Presidential Innovation Fellow, and Bill Curtis-Davidson, Co-Director, Partnership on Employment & Accessible Technology (PEAT) on a panel at AWE on June 2, 2022. They will discuss the inclusive design of AR and VR hardware, applications and content, so that everyone — including those who identify as people with disabilities — can access, enjoy and benefit from them. 

Building the Metaverse for the Greater Good

Joan O’Hara, Vice President of Public Policy at XRA, will lead a panel, “It Takes a Village to Build the Metaverse,” at AWE on June 3, 2022. Panelists will explore the ways in which the XR industry, civil society, academia, policymakers, and other stakeholders can work together to advance practical solutions for the greater good. They will discuss the influence of civil society, the role of law and policymakers, the science behind XR technology, and most importantly how and why the industry can take a leading role in shaping policy outcomes.
