Chapter two is an update to XRA’s Developers Guide, a starter guide for developers designing reality-expanding experiences. This standalone update, “Creating Safe, Inclusive, and Respectful Immersive Experiences,” offers a set of industry-backed best practices for developing inclusive, respectful, and safe spaces for all users.

The XRAccessibility Project is an initiative driven by the XR Association and XR Access to provide a central place for developers to find solutions for creating accessible code across various XR platforms. The project is inspired by developers, key players in ensuring that this technology is accessible, who reported challenges in finding accessible code snippets.

XR Access’s report on the value of inclusively designed XR Workplace tools reflects on and provides information about how XR programs technologies have made their experience more accessible for all users.

Inclusive Workplace XR – Partnership on Employment and Accessible Technology (PEAT) – Department of Labor

PEAT’s Inclusive XR in the Workplace report is a resource that ensures developers create inclusive XR programs accessible for all people. It provides suggestions, benefits, and guidelines for developers to follow.

Consumer Technology Association’s Inclusive, Audio, & Visual-Based Navigation Systems standards provide requirements for developers to help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities overcome barriers to independent travel.

ITIF’s guidebook, “Current and Potential Uses of AR/VR for Equity and Inclusion”, is a reference that leads developers through how they can make their programs more accessible for all.
This resource is a guide for HR professionals and employers to take DEI to the next level by focusing on how to examine, operationalize, and embed DEI into practices along four key pillars: talent acquisition, performance management, compensation practices, and learning and development.
