THE XR ASSOCIATION WELCOMES AUGMENTED REALITY COMPANY MAGIC LEAP AS NEW MEMBER TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

New Members Join Growing Roster of Companies Leading in Augmented, Mixed and Virtual Reality

Washington, D.C. — Today, the XR Association (XRA), the trade association representing the growing ecosystem of companies powering virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (XR), announced several new members, including: Magic Leap, VoxelSensors, XR Village and Kapeer.

Daniel Diez, Chief Transformation Officer at Magic Leap, will represent the company on XRA’s Board of Directors, which provides strategic guidance and support for XRA’s ongoing initiatives.

“2023 has been an important year for this industry, with new technologies that are transforming the enterprise, industrial, and consumer spaces,” said Elizabeth Hyman, CEO of the XR Association. “Magic Leap is a visionary company that has made a significant imprint on how the application of AR can transform businesses and the workforce. We are thrilled to have Magic Leap and all of these new XRA members join in our mission of bringing together stakeholders, policymakers, and industry leaders to create a responsible and collaborative future for immersive technology.”

New member VoxelSensors, a Brussels-based company, also reflects the organization’s global reach and expansion as it continues to engage in how virtual worlds are built and regulated in the EU. Other new members XR Village promotes privacy and security in XR, and Kapeer Corporation is a learning, design, and technology company.

As a leading industry convener, XRA plays an integral role in ensuring that immersive technologies are developed responsibly and thoughtfully. In working groups, demonstration workshops, policy briefings, panel discussions, and other events organized by XRA, members discuss immersive technologies’ proper implementation and advancement.

“As the XR industry continues to expand and adoption of these technologies accelerates, the XRA will continue to play an essential role in developing best practices, driving consensus around key issues, and spearheading the XR industry’s agenda across the broader tech landscape,” said Daniel Diez, Chief Transformation Officer of Magic Leap.” By joining the XRA, we intend to meaningfully contribute to these initiatives. As a board member, I am excited to help drive the industry forward and guide key aspects of its growth.”

Most recently, XRA hosted the ARVR Policy Conference in Washington D.C., which brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and member organizations to discuss the future of immersive technologies and their policy ramifications. XRA and its members previously held an XR technology demonstration for policymakers on Capitol Hill in February.
