XR ASSOCIATION JOINS ASSOCIATIONS IN SIGNING UNITED FOR PRIVACY COALITION LETTER TO CONGRESS

UFP Letter

Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the United for Privacy Coalition convened to discuss the latest developments regarding the American Privacy Rights Act (APRA) and ways to engage as a broader coalition on this bill. XRA actively participated in the meeting.

While individual members may have varied perspectives on other sections of the bill, all participants unanimously agreed that full preemption is an essential part of any federal privacy effort and that a coalition letter focused on this issue would be effective ahead of a Full Committee markup.

The United for Privacy Coalition Letter urges the Energy & Commerce Committee to strengthen APRA ahead of a full Committee markup to ensure it provides a uniform national standard and fully preempts the growing patchwork of state privacy laws. XRA signed the letter on June 5, 2024.
