The seasoned policy expert joins XRA after more than two decades working in travel technology, policy and industry associations.

Washington D.C. — Today, the XR Association, representing the growing ecosystem of companies working to bridge the digital and physical worlds with virtual, augmented and mixed reality technologies, announced the hiring of Chris Brown as Vice President of Public Policy.
Brown is a seasoned policy expert with more than two decades of experience across government, industry associations and the private legal sector. He most recently led efforts to advocate for accessible air travel before Congress and key federal agencies in leadership roles at the Association of Value Airlines, National Air Carrier Association and Airlines for America. Brown previously served as staff director of the House Aviation Subcommittee and assistant administrator for government and industry affairs at the Federal Aviation Administration.
“XR’s role in bridging physical and digital worlds is revolutionizing education, workforce training, healthcare, entertainment and much more. I am eager to join the dedicated team at XRA at such a pivotal moment for this technology,” Brown said. “As XR increasingly converges with AI and other emerging technologies, it’s critical that industry leaders and policymakers work together to advance the development and adoption of these technologies.”
“Chris will be a wonderful addition to our team,” XRA CEO Liz Hyman said. “Chris’s years of Hill and federal agency experience, combined with his passion for tech policy, ensure he is well-equipped to guide XRA’s policy agenda.”
Earlier this year, the XR Association outlined eight policy priorities for the 119th Congress, which coincided with the inauguration of the second Trump administration. The addition of Brown as XRA’s new policy lead is well-timed to help advance the U.S. Leadership in Immersive Technology Act of 2025 through Congress. Brown will also work with key federal agencies to accelerate the U.S. government’s investment in Digital Twins.
XRA will also host the ARVR Policy Conference in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, September 9. The event will feature a series of expert talks and panels discussing critical policy questions for the future of immersive technologies and their implications on the economy and society. RSVP here.
