XRA CEO MODERATES WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION PANEL ON EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THE METAVERSE

Geneva, Switzerland — On Wednesday, September 28th, XRA CEO Liz Hyman moderated the panel, “Web 3.0 and the Metaverse: How the Next Phase of the Internet Can Support Equitable Development,” at the World Trade Organization (WTO) 2022 Public Forum. Hyman was joined by speakers Cody Ankeny, Reality Labs Policy Manager at Meta, Emmanuelle Ganne, Senior Analyst for the Economic Research Department at the WTO, and Christian Perrone, Head of Rights, Technology, and GovTech at the Instituto de Tecnologia e Sociedade do Rio de Janeiro (ITS Rio). Panelists discussed how policymakers can leverage the revolution in technology development to drive inclusive growth and the standards and governance models that should be in place to unlock their potential. They also defined these new technologies and discussed what the metaverse will mean for the global economy, trade agreements, and the WTO.
