The XR Association (XRA) participated in the Medical Device Innovation Consortium’s (MDIC) MedXR Summit, held Nov. 4–6 at the College Park Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. The summit drew a multi-stakeholder audience that included medical clinicians, service providers, academics, researchers, and government officials.
XRA’s Senior Vice President of Research and Best Practices, Stephanie Montgomery, presented on the association’s mission, voluntary standards engagement, and the UL 8400 device safety standard, highlighting its role in supporting medical XR device safety. Montgomery emphasized the need for standards in medical XR to ensure safe and effective use in clinical settings. Despite the government shutdown, FDA leadership attended and provided insights into the agency’s medical device approval process, encouraging collaboration with the FDA early in product development.
