XRA AND XR ACCESS LEAD COMMUNITY DISCUSSION ON CLOSED CAPTIONING

Washington, D.C. – On November 15, 2023, XR Access and the XR Association hosted a Closed Captioning Community Discussion as part of the XR Community Discussion Series. The discussion focused on how closed captioning can improve immersive experiences for all users. The event featured presentations from Lily Bond, Senior VP of Marketing at 3Play Media, Yao Ding, Accessibility Research Lead at Meta, and Brenden Gilbert, Deaf Accessibility and Inclusion Evangelist. 

The virtual gathering convened nearly 60 attendees, including accessibility experts, American Sign Language interpreters, software designers, hardware manufacturers, and academics. There were insightful comments on the placement of ambient captioning and the role that API’s play in the development of accessible content.
