XRA SVP OF PUBLIC POLICY JOAN O'HARA PARTICIPATED IN EUROPEAN INTERNET FORUM EVENT

Washington, D.C. – Earlier today, XRA’s Senior Vice President of Public Policy, Joan O’Hara, joined a panel of European experts to discuss, “Navigating the Opportunities and Challenges of the Metaverse.” The event was hosted by the European Internet Forum (EIF) and included members of the European Parliament.

In her remarks, O’Hara emphasized the importance of various nations and stakeholders working together to create a metaverse imbued with democratic values, and supported by norms and standards that respect human dignity and individual agency. She further discussed how, if well done, the metaverse will create opportunities for a broad range of companies, both large and small, as well as millions of individual creators. 

Chaired by Member of the European Parliament, Ondrej Kovarik, panelists also discussed opportunities for European small to medium enterprises and consumers. Panelists included Rehanna Schwinninger-Ladak (European Commission), Isabel De Peuter-Rutten (Euromersive), and Roman Velker (TruPhysics).
