XRA ADDRESSES BALANCE BETWEEN PRIVACY, SAFETY, AND INCLUSION IN THE METAVERSE

AWE EU 2022

Lisbon, Portugal — On Friday, October 21st, XRA’s VP of Public Policy, Joan O’Hara, joined Karim Mohammadali of Google, Carrie Valladares of Microsoft, and moderator, Cornelia Kutterer, also from Microsoft, on the panel, “Reframing Identity for Mixed Reality,” at AWE EU 2022. The group discussed the ways in which identity across digital and physical space come together in entirely new ways in mixed reality, especially in new metaverse implementations. In particular, the panel considered how developers, policymakers, and platforms can work to strike a balance between privacy, safety, and inclusion, and the unique issues the metaverse presents in this space.
