Brussels, BE – In June, XRA’s Senior Vice President of Public Policy, Joan O’Hara, traveled to Brussels to participate in the European Commission’s (EC) Workshop on Competition in Virtual Worlds and Generative AI. The event served as a follow-up to the call for contributions launched in January 2024, which XRA submitted, and aimed to foster a deeper understanding of competition dynamics within virtual worlds, exploring the challenges, opportunities, and regulatory implications arising from the evolving landscape of digital innovation.
O’Hara joined a panel of experts from academia and industry to discuss the main sources of market power in virtual worlds, the virtual worlds power map, and what competition dynamics are currently unfolding in relation to virtual worlds, as well as the role of partnerships, collaboration and interoperability between large virtual worlds players and technologies.
