|||||

Washington, D.C. – On Monday, May 22, 2023, the XR Association attended “Emerging Tech 2023,” hosted by Public Knowledge. This year, speakers and panelists discussed the policy implications of emerging technologies ranging from generative AI to XR technologies to the decentralized web.

Elizabeth Hyman, CEO of the XR Association, participated in the panel discussion “Warring Worlds: Competition and Openness in XR.” Hyman was joined by Brittan Heller (Atlantic Council), Liv Erickson (Mozilla), and Louis Rosenberg (Unanimous AI). The discussion was moderated by Charlotte Slaiman (Public Knowledge).

XRA also participated in the Tech Exhibition following the panel discussions. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with and experience XR technology by trying on the headsets or watching an interactive demonstration. The team also shared “Into the Digital World: XRA’s Guide to Immersive Technology” with attendees. The visualization, a primer for audiences with limited background knowledge in XR, showcases how the technology can be utilized to, among other things, enhance exercise, simplify navigation and to practice complex medical procedures in educational classes.
