Washington, D.C. – On July 28, 2022, Congress passed the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022, a bipartisan bill aimed at boosting U.S. competitiveness on the global stage. The measure was designed to help America compete with China by injecting billions of dollars into the domestic production of semiconductors and providing for investment in the research and development of critical emerging technologies. Thanks to the work of staff at the XR Association, “immersive technology” was included in the list of “key technology focus areas” designated for funding under the bill.
The inclusion of immersive technologies highlights their growing significance in various sectors, including education, healthcare, and manufacturing. By prioritizing these technologies, the CHIPS and Science Act ensures that the U.S. remains at the forefront of innovation, fostering advancements that can transform industries and enhance user experiences. Furthermore, this investment will drive the creation of high-quality jobs, stimulate economic growth, and solidify the nation’s leadership in the global tech landscape.
