Wednesday, May 4th — XRA CEO Liz Hyman led a presentation titled, “XR as the Next Computing Platform: Getting the UX Right,” at ConveyUX, an annual event for user experience professionals. In this session, Hyman discussed the growth of the XR industry and areas of research underway in XR. She highlighted XRA’s work to convene industry members and develop best practices. To date, XRA has issued three chapters of its Developers Guide resource: Chapter One: Fundamental Design Principles for Immersive Experiences; Chapter Two: Creating Safe, Inclusive, and Respectful Immersive Experiences; and Chapter Three: Accessibility & Inclusive Design in Immersive Experiences.
Hyman closed by urging audience members to voice support for the U.S. Innovation and Competition Act (USICA) and its companion bill in the House of Representatives, the America Competes Act, with their elected members of Congress. This legislation would provide an additional $250 billion dollars to the National Science Foundation for expanded research and development in ten key technology areas, including immersive technology.
