THE XR ASSOCIATION WELCOMES FOUR NEW MEMBER COMPANIES INCLUDING SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS AND MAGICGATE

New Members Join Growing Roster of Companies Leading in Augmented, Mixed and Virtual Reality

Washington, D.C. — Today, the XR Association (XRA), the trade association representing the growing ecosystem of companies powering virtual, augmented, and mixed reality (XR) announced several new members, including MagicGate, Bytes and Bits, Spatial Dynamics, and returning member Samsung Electronics.

The newest companies demonstrate the breadth of diversity in immersive technology from education and healthcare solutions to software development and manufacturing.

“We are excited to welcome four new members to XRA and look forward to working together to advance XR technology and educate policymakers on the transformative nature of immersive tech,” said Elizabeth Hyman, CEO at XRA. “These diverse new XRA members highlight the continued interest in and breadth of applications for immersive technology. Together, we are helping to shape the future of computing.”

As a leading industry convener, XRA is integral in ensuring that immersive technologies are developed thoughtfully and responsibly. By bringing together a multitude of voices from inside and outside the industry, XRA strives to ensure that this technology benefits all users, current and prospective.

Most recently, XRA hosted its second annual Demo on the Hill in Washington, D.C., bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and member organizations to experience XR firsthand and discuss the future of immersive technologies and their policy ramifications.

By providing a platform for engagement between policymakers and industry leaders, XRA continues to champion the transformative power of immersive technology in shaping the future of healthcare, education, training, and entertainment.

Joining the XR Association provides Samsung with an opportunity to join the conversations that are shaping the future of the XR industry,” said Mark Lippert, Executive Vice President of North American Public Affairs for Samsung Electronics North America. “As the industry continues to expand and adoption of these technologies accelerates, the work of XRA to develop best practices, drive consensus around key issues, and spearhead the XR industry’s agenda across the broader tech landscape, becomes increasingly important.”

XRA’s recent whitepaper “Charting the Future of Immersive Technology: Transforming Work, Education, Health, and Entertainment” details 9 initiatives the organization will undertake in the coming years to advance the industry. This paper was shaped in part by the insights and perspectives of XRA’s member companies and will be used to address some of the foundational challenges for XR.
